Accessibility of the cottage
Our Access Statement can be viewed by clicking the link.
Rock Cottage is an ancient and therefore a wonky cottage. Guests need to be aware that it may not be suitable for the infirm or guests unsteady on their feet. The staircase at the centre of the cottage is extremely steep with an uneven stair tread. A handrail is provided but being made of rope does not necessarily offer the support required for someone who struggles with stairs.
There are areas of reduced head height through out the cottage with exposed beams in nearly every room. You don’t need to resort to stooping but some guests may need to duck when using doorways. I should add that my own father and brothers-in-law are all over 6ft and stay at Rock Cottage with no problems so don’t be too alarmed!
The garden terrace
At the rear of Rock Cottage is the perfect terrace ideal for al fresco meals and BBQs. Please note the terrace is slightly raised from the pathway so care must be taken with furniture on the terrace – we don’t want anyone falling off the edge!
Please note the neighbouring cottage has a legal right of way to use the pathway to access their garden – please respect their right to privacy by not entering their adjacent garden.
Fire Safety
Hopefully you won’t need any of the following, but just in case the worst happens – we are prepared!
- Fire blanket in kitchen
- Fire extinguisher for all fire types
- Emergency escape lighting in both bedrooms
- Multiple easily accessible exits
- Mains wired smoke alarms & carbon monoxide alarm
