Dogs

We welcome dogs at Rock Cottage! You are welcome to bring your dog with you when you stay at Rock Cottage, please just add your four legged friend to your booking or email us if you wish to add a dog to your booking at a later date.

We have 2 wonderful dogs ourselves, you might have noticed Monty the yellow Labrador and Frankie the mini Dachshund featured in our photos and social media. We have had lots of doggy guests come to stay at Rock Cottage and we look forward to hosting you and your dog very soon.

Dog info:

  • The garden is completely enclosed! It is fenced with 6 foot fencing on 2 sides, with a deep garden bed with stone wall on the other side and the cottage on the final side. The lowest point is the pedestrian garden gate (approx 4 foot). Our Labrador and Dachshund cannot get out but if you have a “jumper” it’s always possible!
  • The garden is slabbed and a beautiful spot for a BBQ or al fresco drinkies. Just a 5 minute walk from the Cottage takes you to a playing field where you can take your dogs for toilet time. Just head left out of the cottage door and keep going, then cross the playing field and you’ll come around in a circular walk back to the cottage – perfect for a quick doggy toilet break.
  • There is a great dog walking field just a 5 minute walk away with a dog poo bin and perfect for letting your dog off the lead – get directions here
  • We have a huge choice of proper walks and hikes straight from the cottage door. Why not follow the public footpaths and cross the fields down to the Camel Trail and walk the stunning footpath to Padstow? Or explore the Saints Way? Or walk to the dog friendly vineyard and enjoy a glass of wine?
  • We are very lucky to have 2 dog friendly pubs in the village. Do check out the opening hours of the Ring O Bells as it can vary. Dogs are welcome in the bar of the Pickwick or garden (unfortunately not in the fine dining restaurant, but food can be ordered in the bar).
  • Just a short drive to lots of dog friendly beaches, there are some seasonal closures but lots are open to dogs all year around. Check out the link.

Are you looking for inspiration on dog friendly days out? Please look at our guide to the ultimate dog friendly holiday in Cornwall, from the best walks, doggy ice-cream to what to pack! You’ll find everything you need to know when planning your stay at a dog friendly cottage in Cornwall.

Padstow must be one of the most dog friendly towns in the country! You will find that dogs are welcomed in most pubs and restaurants and there are dog water bowls everywhere.

There are a number of walks that can be made direct from Rock Cottage along public footpaths, from a short stroll around the village to a longer stretch of the legs to Padstow Harbour or even further afield to the beaches if you fancy a hike. We have included an OS Map in the Cottage for your use or why not look up some walks on Google Maps to plan your route? There are some great videos of walking trails on You Tube to inspire you and maybe encourage you to try some new routes. There are plenty of pubs and tea rooms around if you need a pit-stop!

For your own comfort, we accept 1 large dog or 2 smaller dogs. As much as we would love to accept 2 large dogs, regretfully, there just isn’t space for 2 large dog beds etc. We want everyone to have a fantastic holiday and that definitely includes being comfortable!

Dog Rules

  1. Only two dogs per booking
  2. The garden is fenced and gated but we can’t guarantee its dog proof. Please supervise your dog in the garden.
  3. Please do not allow your dog to excessively bark in the garden as we have close neighbours.
  4. Please bring your own dog bowls and food. If you feed your dog raw food then you are welcome to use the freezer for this.
  5. There is space for dog bed or crate in the kitchen, there is a gate between the kitchen and lounge (very small dogs will be able to go under the gate as it is mounted off the floor). Please do not allow your dog to sleep on the sofas overnight.
  6. Please do not leave your dog unattended in the cottage. Although your dog may be fine to be left alone at home, often dogs behave differently in new places and to avoid damage and nuisance, dogs must not be left. We are happy to recommend dog walkers or kennels if you would like to enjoy a day out without your dogs.
  7. Dogs must use throws or blankets if they go on the furniture. If excess dog fur is found then a charge will be made for professional upholstery cleaning.
  8. Please note there is not an outside tap at Rock Cottage. We know dogs love a sandy or muddy walk so we have provided a portable doggy shower which can be used to hose down dogs before letting them in the house – you can even use warm water for a truly luxury dog wash!
  9. Dog waste can be disposed of in the nearby dog waste bin by the bus stop just by the Ring O Bells Pub. Dog waste must not be put in our outdoor bin as the waste collection service will not take it.
