Yes! We love our four-legged friends at Rock Cottage. You can bring 2 dogs with you for a small charge of £20 per dog (per stay not per night!). We have a few doggy house rules that you need to make sure you are happy with Dogs.
Dogs love Rock Cottage – walks from the door, loads of dog friendly beaches, the most friendly dog town on earth (Padstow) as dogs are welcome in most restaurants, cafes and shops and a lovely log burner to curl up in front of at home-sweet-holiday-home.
Please note that Rock Cottage has a paved courtyard garden. We know dogs often like a bit of grass under their feet – there is a playing field less than a 5 minute walk around the corner perfect for a bit of fresh air first thing in the morning! And of course lots of longer walks too.
Yes! It’s about a 2 to 3 miles walk from Rock Cottage to Padstow along quiet country lanes and the Camel Trail. It takes about 1 hour and we would suggest only walking during daylight as the lane is not lit. Check out our walking instructions here with a small clip of an annotated map. We strongly suggest ignoring Google walking directions as they take you the long way around!
If you don’t fancy walking home then it is very easy to catch the bus back to the village.
Want to eat closer to the cottage? Try the Ring O Bells Pub (2 mins) or Pickwick Inn (10 minutes walk).
Sometimes life doesn’t go to plan. Please make sure you take out holiday insurance to cover you in the event that you need to cancel. The deposit is non-refundable but we will try and move your booking if enough notice is given. Our Terms and Conditions of Business can be viewed by clicking the link. Get in touch immediately, we will try and help where we can!
Now this is a slightly difficult one as it depends!
Children over the age of 5 – definitely. We have a lovely twin bedroom ideal for children, a playpark just around the corner and the whole of Cornwall to explore. Although do note the advice below too!
Children under 5 – you must be aware that Rock Cottage is an ancient building, The stairs are extremely steep and uneven. The garden terrace is raised from the ground by about 60cm so please take care near the edge. The log burner if used presents a burn risk. Children and toddlers must be supervised at all times.
Babies – We have a highchair and travel cot available to borrow at no charge (please add them to your booking). You will need to bring your own cot bedding.
Rock Cottage is lucky to have easy on-road parking directly outside the garden gate suitable for parking most cars. You will see that there is almost a “lay-by” between the gate and the front of the cottage. Additional on-road parking can be found about 20m further into the village. The layby referred to is treated as “ours” as that part of the road does not form public highway.
Please respect our neighbours and the farming community by parking considerately. Please note the Farmer drives his tractor through the centre of the village so make sure you are not causing an obstruction!
We suggest only bringing one vehicle to avoid cluttering the village with lots of cars.
Yes! We have superfast fibre broadband. You might find it faster than at home! The wifi password will be sent with your Arrival Information. Telephone signal can be a little patchy but is generally acceptable.
We have a desk area in the dining room ideal for catching up on some emails or even working from home. My husband is a software developer and has worked from the cottage on many occasions.
yes! You are welcome to watch Freeview or your own paid for subscription services such as Netflix, Disney+ etc.
We always include local tea, coffee, sugar and milk – nothing like a nice hot drink after a long drive. We also like to include a few locally made treats so if you have any dietary requirements please let us know when booking or drop us an email and we’ll make sure our Welcome Basket is suitable.
You are welcome to order your own online grocery order to be delivered to the Cottage. Waitrose offer a home delivery service to Rock Cottage.
We also supply: salt & pepper, dishcloth, sponge, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, hand soaps and 1 basket of logs (for 1 to 2 fires).
We include one complimentary basket of logs with every booking together with a few fire starters and some matches to get you going. The supply is enough for one to two fires.
Further logs can be purchased from https://www.loganslogs.com/ or the main supermarkets sell nets of logs. It is very important you only burn proper dried logs and no rubbish or other sources of wood.
Please do not burn the logs on the BBQ.
A charcoal BBQ is provided. You must provide your own charcoal and firelighters. Please ensure it is left clean and ready to use by the next guests. You can find the BBQ in the left-hand outhouse.
No – it’s time to relax! Rock Cottage is a luxury cottage so all bath towels and linens are provided including tea towels (x2) and handtowels.
You will need to bring your own beach towels. Please do not take our white towels to the beach.
2 minute walk:
The Ring O Bells is just across the road and open from 6pm daily. You’ll receive a warm welcome in this traditional pub. Serving a range of pub classics from pie & mash to fish & chips. A good selection of local beers. Dog friendly. Sunday roast from 12noon to 2pm.
10 minutes walk:
The Pickwick Inn is a ten minute walk (unlit country lane) with both a bar serving pub snacks and drinks but also a fine dining restaurant with stunning views. The bar and garden are dog friendly, unfortunately dogs are not allowed in the fine dining restaurant but they do serve food outside & in the bar. They have a great play are outside perfect for kids (whilst you enjoy a well deserved drink!)
Head down the lefthand side of the Ring o Bells and follow the lane, head left when you get to the end and you’ll see the Pub. Enjoy the rural views on the way!
40 mins walk (1.9 miles):
The Trevibban Mill Vineyard is a bit further but well worth a walk or short drive. Book in for a vineyard tour & tasting. Or just enjoy a meal or glass of wine on their terrace with stunning views. Dogs are welcome!
A wide range of pubs, bars and restaurants can be found in Padstow. Just a short drive with in town parking or use the park & ride. Padstow is a picturesque 2 to 3 mile walk (along the Camel Trail) if you want to stretch your legs and enjoy a drink without having to worry about the car. It takes about an hour to walk.
Alternatively, there is an easy and frequent bus service from the end of the road into Padstow or Wadebridge. On the way home you can catch the bus from the car park near Rick Stein’s fish and chips (the bus terminal) heading towards Bodmin, get off at the Ring O’Bells pub in St Issey.
Probably at Hawksfield which is a delightful enclave of shops about 1 to 2 miles away. There is a fab cafe serving gourmet breakfasts, lovely homeware stores and a deli. Its definitely worth a visit for a mooch about or a long brunch https://hawksfieldcornwall.com/
The Farmer in the village sells eggs, cream, milk etc from his home in the village. If you see the Rodda’s cream sign out on the main road then you will know he is open (the bungalows near Ponderosa Campsite).
A M&S Food is located at the Shell garage near Wadebridge (about 4 miles), there is also an Aldi and Tesco.
In the other direction to Padstow you will find a Tesco as well as some lovely Farm Shops – please shop local!
Several of the local supermarkets offer online home delivery including Waitrose. Why not pre-order your groceries to arrive during your stay.
Either bank transfer or credit card/debit card. We take payments online via our booking form.

We take a £100 damage deposit for each booking which is payable when you pay your holiday balance. We will return this to you within 14 days of your departure (and often the very next day!). The deposit will be returned to you by the same method that you paid.
We generally don’t charge for minor breakages but please let us know so we can replace the items before the next guests arrive.
In the event where serious damage occurs exceeding the value of the damage deposit then we will contact you to arrange settling this.
Because in our opinion it’s a little slice of heaven on earth. A small quirky wonky cottage full of charm where you can truly relax before going off to explore everything that Cornwall has to offer, everything seems so close and at the end of a long day you can enjoy a peaceful drink on the terrace or curl up in front of the cosy log burner. We can’t wait to welcome you!
